Sprints and Jumps Lead V-Hawks at Phil Esten Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Womens Track and Field team competed at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks finished 10th out of 19 scoring teams with 25.83 team points. Host UW-La Crosse claimed the team championship with 259.83 points.

Breanna collected a pair of medals on the day, taking second place in the 200 meter dash with a personal-best time of 25.79, and third place as part of the 4x100 meter relay team with Caludia Schunk, Lana Yeakel, and Ashley Veronen that finished with a time of 51.01.

Yeakel also finished fifth place in the long jump with a leap of 5.30m (17-04.75), while teammate Grace Peyron took eighth at 5.19m (17-00.50).

Miranda Kendall claimed sixth in high jump, clearing 1.54m (5-00.50), and Schunk was seventh in the 100 meter dash with a mark of 13.01.

The final scorers for the V-Hawks included Emma Johnson in the 100 meter hurdles (8th, 15.94.), Bailey Nuutinen in the pole vault (8th, 3.32m | 10-10.75) and Payton Dryden in the discus (8th, 38.34m | 125-09).

The V-Hawks return to action on Wednesday, April 26 at the Drake University (Iowa) Relays, and Thursday, April 27 at the Dubuque University (Iowa) Relays.
