LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Women's Basketball team came out triumphant against St Ambrose University 74-62. The V-Hawks rise to 14-11 (CCAC 7-10) while the Fighting Bees fall to 8-16 (CCAC 6-11).

Quick on the jump, Emily McCurdy would take the first layup of the game, Nicole Johnson claiming the block to get the ball back, Hughes draining a three for an early lead. Off a Hughes steal Macy Stellner would drive in claiming the foul before McCurdy would find Carly Drew for three.

Lauryn Goettl making the play, finding Drew for the layup before drawing the foul taking to the free throw line twice to knock down all four. Stellner sending the ball to Drew to hit the three followed by Madison Hugdahl at the line would end the half.

The V-Hawks with a fast play left Hughes wide open for the layup three seconds into the third, before draining a three from Goettl. Hughes on her own steal would take to the paint making the layup and drawing the foul before Olivia Lambrigtsen would make a series of free throws.

Lambrigtsen with the first seven points of the fourth would set the tone in the lead for Johnson so score another four points before the clock ran out.

Drew and Hughes led the V-Hawks with 14 each. Abby Wolter led the Fighting Bees with 18.  

The V-Hawks outshot the Fighting Bees from the floor 40.7% to 36.2% and from three 29.2% to 20% and committed more turnovers 20-18.

The V-Hawks return to action Saturday February 15 at Indiana South Bend.
