DICKINSON, ND – The Viterbo University Softball team fell to Dakota state University (SD) in the first game of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference tournament, 4-8 on Friday afternoon. The V-Hawks now sit at 17-27, while the Trojans hold a 14-32 record.

DSU started the first game strong, with four runs in the bottom of the first, coming on two hits and a V-Hawk error. The V-Hawks recorded three hits over the next two innings, but wouldn't score until the fourth, where Marissa Carter-Olson had an RBI double to score Channing Manske. The Trojans scored another four in the bottom of the frame on a three-RBI triple and one-RBI single. Carter-Olson had another RBI in the fifth, scoring Amanda Bogdonovich, and Morgan James' single brought home Manske and Makayla Nortman to bring the score to 4-8. Viterbo would manage three more baserunners, but couldn't score any more runs.

Megan Jardine went 3-for-4, while James and Carter-Olson each had two RBIs to lead the V-Hawks. Carrington Entringer had three RBIs for the Trojans.

James' 40 RBI ties her for the most in a single season in Viterbo history.
