V-Hawks Stop Skid at Home

LA CROSSE, Wis – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team came out on top on Thursday afternoon in a matchup with Aquinas University (MI) 3-1 (25-21, 27-25, 25-20, 25-19). The V-Hawks rise to 3-17 (CCAC 0-3), while the Saints fall to 6-13 (WHAC 1-7).

Riley Connors and Styrk Myhre opened the match strong with a block followed by a kill by Alex Kratzenstein. Logan Amdur in a new position would be set up by Roman Rzeszutko for the kill before Myhre would put the hammer down at the net. In a series of three point runs the V-Hawks would grab another kill from Amdur and two form Myhre.

The V-Hawks beginning set two similar to one with Myhre and Ethan Davis with a block at the net, Davis following with a service ace and a kill by Kratzenstein. Amdur setting up a three point series for Davis and Connors before Max Dugan claiming a kill on a free ball from Davis.

Amdur on the serve would get Myhre and Davis with kills before Kratzenstein would take back to back kills and a block with Justin Kratzenstein. The V-Hawks up with a narrow lead would position Dugan for a pair of aces, A. Kratzenstein bringing down the final kill of the set.

Hot on the open, Davis would claim the first two V-Hawk points with a kill and an ace, before Amdur and Myhre would jump at the net for a block. Reclaiming the lead on a six point run, Myhre and A Kratzenstein with attack hard, Amdur bringing down the final kill of the match.

A.Kratzenstein led the V-Hawks with 13 kills, Amdur set up 23 assists followed by Rzeszutko with 14, and Dugan with 13 digs. Connor Staats led the Saints with 21 kills.

The V-Hawks return to action Saturday, March 15 for a home Tri Match against Olivet Nazarene and UW-Stevens Point.
