V-Hawks top Fighting Bees in CCAC Home Opener

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks hosted the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose on Saturday for the first home conference match of the year. The V-Hawks defeating the Bees in dominant fashion, outscoring them 6-1. The V-Hawks improve to 5-1-2 (2-0 CCAC) while the Bees fall to 8-2 (1-1 CCAC). 

The game began quickly with the V-Hawks scoring two goals within the first five minutes of the match. St. Ambrose responded with a goal of their own at the 20 minute mark, but the V-Hawks continued to dominante. Jokubas Jancauskas got back-to-back goals within two minutes of each other. The V-Hawks added two more goals in the second half. 

Throughout the game, the V-Hawks took 19 shots to St. Ambrose's six. Of the 19, 12 were on target and six found the goal. The V-Hawks also took six corner kicks to St. Ambrose's two. Defensively, Peter Kolenyo picked up a save for the V-Hawks. 

V-HAWK SCORING

  • 2' - Just two minutes into the game, Joaquin Eichhorn got fed the ball from Jokubas Jancauskas. Eichhorn scored the first goal of the day for the V-Hawks. 
  • 5' - Three minutes after the first goal, Ted Holstein got a hold of the ball to score again for Viterbo. Sebastian Acosta earned the assist on the second goal.
  • 23' - At 23 minutes, Jokubas Jancauskas earned his first goal of the day, the third for the V-Hawks. Sebastian Acosta earned another assist. 
  • 24' - Within the next minute, Jancauskas got the ball again, this time assisted by Johan Hamnstrom, to earn his second goal of the day and the fourth for the V-Hawks. 
  • 60' - In the second half, Guillermo Laborda earned a goal on the assist by Joaquin Eichhorn. This goal marked the fifth for the V-Hawks. 
  • 86' - The final goal of the day came towards the end when Ronmel Alfaro had an open look. He was assisted by Pablo Orrego Zapata to score the final goal of the day for the V-Hawks.

The V-Hawks will return home on Tuesday, September 30. They are slated to compete against the RedHawks of Indiana Northwest. Kickoff is at 3:30 pm.
